The four housesEach of the 4 houses of Power Wicca is different, has its own personality and specialty, and you choose when joining, the house which you feel most suites your natural personality or the creatures that you would most like to associate with. They are not tied to the elements as such, as all Wicca covens of all paths and denominations are a form of fire witch, in the traditional sense within witchcraft, however each has a tendency to be nearest to a particular element. Our four houses are names after power creatures, dragon, unicorn, dolphin and owl. So how do you decide which is for you, well you write each in the four corners of a piece of paper, and then next to it you write the features you most associate with each creature, you will find the same words tend to be used for several of them. Perhaps you might use words like wise, caring, thoughtful, sharing, caring, or terms like environmentally aware, or mystical, powerful,…. You may also like to read the following explanations of the brief differences between the houses, and see which personality you feel suits you best. Most will use a combination of these.
PersonalitiesThe different houses tend to practice different forms of magic, although coming together for celebrations. Houses tend to be the unit that training, discussion and similar take place in and although each has its personality or specialty all Power Witches can practice all forms of magic. Often a Power Witch from a house will put on a presentation on an aspect of the specialty for another house. The effect is that all are in effect general witches, but also each has a specialist group of skills. If a solitary witch, who has not joined a coven then you would specialize on your house personalities and put more time and study into them, but still get a grounding in other forms. This then means that later, should you join a coven, you will be able to take part. Dragon
